Brain Teaser

A milkman wants to give 4 litres of milk to his customer. He has forgotten to bring measuring pot. He is carrying three buckets of different sizes . Largest bucket can accommodate 8 litres of milk, Medium sized bucket can accommodate 5 litres of milk and smallest sized bucket can accommodate 3 litres of milk. His largest bucket is full of milk while other two buckets are empty. He is not allowed to do any marking in any of the buckets. He is however, allowed to pour milk from one bucket to the other. How can he ensure that only 4 litres of milk are given to the customer. I will give correct answer by saturday, 4th July,09.

Ok firstly in the first bucket it has 8 litres of milk he fills the smallest bucket with 3 litres so now large bucket has 5 litres of milk ,middle bucket has 0 and smaller bucket has 3

In second step he pour 3 litres from the smallest bucket to the middle one so now the smaller bucket has 0 middle bucket has 3 and largest bucket has 5

In the 3 step he pours 3 litres from the largest bucket to the smallest one therefore largest bucket got 2 litres the middle got 3 litres smallest one has 3 litres

Now he gives the 2 litres of milk to the customer therefore largest one got zero litres followed by middle one with 3 and smallest one with 3

Now he pours from the smallest bucket with 2 litres to the middle on so now the largest one is 0 ,middle one is 5 and the smallest one is 1.

He pours that 1 litre from the smallest bucket to the largest one therefore large will be 1 ,middle will be 5 and smallest 0

Now he pours 3 litre from the middle one to the smallest one therefore the middle one is left with 2 litres ,largest one 1 and the smallest one with 3

Lastly he gives the remaining 2 litres from the middle to the customer which makes it 4 litres without the measurement

Shweta you lost the bet and give me the treat next time

alap, you have not lost bet with shweta. she also gave me the same answer yesterday at home. But it is not correct. The milkman is not allowed to give 2 litres two times. He is supposed to give 4 litres at a time. Try again.

ok this is my answer i have done it on my own.
1)First he pour 8 litres from the largest bucket to the middle one so the largest bucket has 3 ,middle one has 5 litres and the smallest has 0.

2)Now he pours 3 litres from the middle bucket to the smallest one so largest has 3,middle one has 2 and the smallest has 3 lites

3)In the third step he pors 2 litres from the middle bucket to the largest one so now the largest has 5,middle one has 0 and the smallest one has 3

4)After that he pours 3 litres to the middle one so the largest one has 5,middle one is 3 and the smallest one is 0

5)He pours from 3 litres from the largest to the smallest so now largest one is 2 ,middle is 3 and the smallest 3

6)He pours 2 litres from the smallestto the middle bucket so the scores are now largest one 2,middle one with 5 ,smallest one with 1

7)He adds 5 litres from the middle bucket to the largest bucket so now largest bucket has 7 litres ,middle has 0 and smallest one has 1 litres of milk.

8)He pours 1 litre from the smalest bucket to the middle one so now the largest bucket has 7 litres, middle one has 1 litre and the smallest one has 0

9) HE POURS 3 LITRES FROM THE LARGEST TO THE SMALLEST bucket so the largest one has 4 litres, middle one has 1 litre and the smallest one has 3 litres.

HERE ISTHE ANSWER HE CAN FURTHER MAKE LARGEST ONE WITH 4,MIDDLE 4 AND SMALLEST 0
